Before you read the update read the first 30 Days of Yoga post. I did yoga 17 out of the 30 days, which is pretty good for me since I was starting from zero days. I discovered how calming yoga can be for me. Some individuals practice in the morning to wake up but, for me yoga is not an energizer but rather a relaxer.
30 Days of Yoga Update
When I wasn’t in the mood for a long 30 minute practice video from Yoga with Adriene I did her six minute Yoga for Sleep video. It is short enough to do right before you go to bed and doesn’t have any difficult movements. She focuses a lot on your breathing which is a great way to release built up stress and tension from throughout the day.
Also, in the 30 days of yoga journey I have found myself moving more; doing more at home workout videos, blogilates is my favourite and also walking more. Whenever I go into Toronto for school I usually spend about 40 to 60 minutes walking which, is more movement than I do when I’m at home.
I now want to attend yoga and meditation classes at In Fine Feather on Ottawa Street North, East Uptown Yoga on Concession Street and Namaste by Nicole in Downtown Hamilton. I enjoy my independent practice at home but, I think it will be great to attend a class and be part of a local yoga community. The classes I want to attend are guided meditation, slow flow yoga, gentle yoga and yin yang yoga.
Since this challenge has completed I have continued practicing at home and soon at yoga studios. I don’t think I will practice everyday though, it’s just not practical. However, I will try to do yoga, meditation or some type of movement activity at least three times a week.
