I recently interviewed Dani D’Silvez, Founder of Leafeco, a Zero Waste Company! If you’re looking to become a Zero Waster or are interested in the subject check out her site here and keep reading!
Why did you decide to start Leafeco, Zero Waste for Beginners?
I moved from job to job out of boredom. I was excelling in all I did but something didn’t feel right. Deep down I felt empty that I wasn’t helping the world become a better place. I had worked for companies that claimed to have a green footprint and sustainable policies but not one of them lived up to their eco name. Every place I worked at I always tried to implement more sustainable practices. But every time I spoke to a manager about my ideas, they all laughed and told me I was only one person and I couldn’t make a difference in this world. And that was the birth of Leafeco. I wanted to create a business that encouraged everyone to find ways to live sustainably but without any modern day sacrifice.
What are some quick tips for going zero waste and where can everyone find more?
- Stop buying single-use plastic bags and keep a reusable bag on you at all times.
- Always carry a water flask instead of buying a plastic bottled drink
- Ditch the kitchen towels for cotton cloths that can be thrown into your normal laundry load.

What do you see yourself doing in the next five years?
Working alongside some great people who have the time and resources to make our future sustainable, practical and fun. I would love to get back to my musical roots and release an album which the profits would be sent to help rebuild deforestation in the Amazon.
What advice would you like to give to today’s women?
Never compare yourself to someone else. Always focus on you and strive to be a better person than you were yesterday. Learn to let things go quicker and love you for you.
